Domaine Le Roc

Don Quichotte 2022

Fronton | Rouge | 2022

This cuvée is crafted from a skillful blend of Négrette and Syrah, sourced from selected plots on stony boulbène soil. The low-yield harvest yields rich, concentrated grapes. Gravity-fed vinification without crushing, followed by a maceration period of about four weeks, allows for the extraction of intense aromas. Eighteen months of aging in large oak vats and barrels ensures supple tannins and aromatic complexity.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The nose of this cuvée charms with its freshness and notes of black fruit, licorice, and violet, accompanied by a hint of smokiness. On the palate, the attack is round and full-bodied, revealing a velvety, luscious texture where the fruit expresses itself fully, enhanced by floral and spicy notes. The finish is marked by slightly chalky tannins. Beautiful aromatic persistence with notes of blackberry coulis, violet, and smoked pepper.

Domaine Le Roc

Domaine Le Roc

Loire | France

In Fronton, Domaine Le Roc has for many years been dedicated to offering a precise and masterful interpretation of Négrette, the emblematic grape variety of the appellation. The vineyard is situated on predominantly gravelly soils, which promote more ethereal expressions and a more pronounced palate dynamic.

Négrette is cultivated to achieve a vibrant and fresh profile, featuring floral notes and an unusual tension for the region. Winemaking prioritizes precision and measured extractions to avoid any heaviness. The aging processes remain understated, designed to complement the wine without masking its inherent character.

The estate also produces more exclusive white wines, distinguished by their balance and clarity. All the cuvées exhibit a clear and consistent signature, offering a distinct and recognizable interpretation of Fronton, mindful of freshness and terroir expression.
