Monte Bianco 2023

Vin de France | Red | 2023

Careful winemaking brings out the best in the Sciaccarello grapes, with gravity-fed collection followed by gentle maceration in temperature-controlled, truncated conical vats. Spontaneous fermentation in the undergrowth and 12 months of aging in demi-muids add complex depth, while a final 6 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling ensures crystalline purity. The result is a structured, elegant wine with a silky texture and a luscious, fruity finish.

Our opinion on the vintage

This Sciaccarello captivates with its light red color and ruby highlights, and its intense nose releases aromas of strawberries, Morello cherries, and myrtle, typical of the Corsican maquis. On the palate, it reveals a smooth and fruity texture with a subtle toasty note that blends perfectly with its fine, silky tannins. The finish is long, marked by flavors of fresh red berries. Enjoy it with Mediterranean dishes such as grilled red mullet fillets or chicken Tikka Marsala for an ideal gastronomic experience.

In Corsica, Domaine Comte Abbatucci is located in the Taravo Valley, where it cultivates an ancient ampelographic heritage. The vineyard is managed biodynamically and planted mainly with indigenous grape varieties, including Sciaccarellu, Vermentinu, Barbarossa, and Carcajolu, adapted to the hillsides and the Mediterranean climate tempered by maritime influence.

The work in the vineyard aims for balanced ripeness, preserving the aromatic finesse and natural freshness of the grapes. Vinification is carried out with precision, without seeking excessive extraction. The wines develop supple textures and a measured breadth, supported by delicate and expressive fruit.

The aging process, often lengthy, is carried out with restraint to develop a patina without weighing down the wines. This approach allows the wines to find a balance between the generosity characteristic of the Mediterranean context and a distinctly island freshness. The estate's work as a whole offers a strong and coherent identity, rooted in the
