Château Cajus
Anecdotes from the Estate: Our building once offered hospitality to pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela. Today, it offers bed and breakfast accommodation and welcomes wine lovers and enthusiasts for tours and tastings. A Brief History of the Estate: Our vineyard is located in the Entre-Deux-Mers region, near Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion. Our 10 hectares of vines are situated on a plateau whose terroir is characterized by a thin layer of clay over limestone bedrock containing Asteria fossils. Facing due south, it is exposed to the prevailing winds. These specific characteristics, combined with organic farming practices and the absence of synthetic products (fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, pesticides), promote healthy fruit and wines of good intensity. We have been practicing organic farming since 1998. The pride of the estate: We have been organic for almost 20 years, ever since we took over the property in 1998. To respect the natural world we will leave to future generations, we cultivate our vineyard without pesticides and make our wine on the estate using natural methods. Furthermore, we take the lunar cycle into account, both for working the vines and during the winemaking and aging processes. Our work has been rewarded with medals at various official competitions. In all our wines, our sulfite levels are very low (less than 10mg/L), and we also offer pure wines with no added sulfites.
