Discover the first vintages from a passionate winemaker. Florence Galande took over Château Coucy in 2017 and is committed to revealing the full richness of its superb terroir. Wines to share with friends without delay! Anecdotes from the estate: In the former commune of Parsac, nestled among the rows of Cabernet Franc vines, lie the white clay soils characteristic of the village. It is on this plot, the southernmost in the vineyard, that a chapel designed by Viollet-le-Duc stands. The estate's history: The first gold medal certificate at the Paris Wine Competition for Château Coucy dates back to 1891. We are committed to perpetuating this ambition to produce high-quality wines while respecting the environment through sustainable viticulture. The estate was certified HVE (High Environmental Value) in 2018. The complete renovation of the cellars and winery allows us to showcase the full potential of our unique terroir. Even today, Château Coucy wines are regularly awarded prizes. The pride of the estate, Château Coucy, is a Montagne Saint-Émilion AOC property named after an old English family who settled in Aquitaine in the 15th century. Our 20-hectare estate, all in one piece, is home to two grape varieties characteristic of the Grand Saint-Émilion region. A chapel designed by Viollet-le-Duc overlooks the slopes of this 20-hectare estate. Passionate about wine, Florence Galande took over the estate in 2017. Her efforts to enhance the vineyard have allowed the richness of the terroir to fully express itself in the quality of her wines, while also meeting new environmental challenges. Extensive renovations have also been undertaken: the buildings dedicated to winemaking, aging, order preparation, and welcoming our visitors have been completely refurbished. Our primary goal is to preserve the natural aromas of the grapes. We craft rich and generous wines with a strong fruit presence, allowing powerful red fruit aromas to mingle delicately with oaky notes. The grapes are fully destemmed. In the winery, we carry out rigorous sorting using a gravity bath. To preserve the fruit, our blend is created after 12 months of aging, with one-third of the production aged in French oak barrels and two-thirds in tanks. Our work is guided by a commitment to respecting our ecosystem. Our actions, both in the vineyard and the winery, strive for healthier and more environmentally friendly agriculture.
