Château des Roques
Since 1871, in the heart of the Southern Rhône Valley, lies the Château des Roques winery, a family estate producing Vacqueyras red and white wines. The Château des Roques winery is an exceptional place, comprised of unique buildings and steeped in history: a 16th-century dry-stone hamlet, an 18th-century chapel, and a 19th-century château. The surrounding flora also contributes to the estate's beauty, with its century-old plane trees and 38 hectares of vineyards... a true paradise! The estate's history: The unique character of Vacqueyras, born in the southern Rhône Valley, is defined by the marriage of the Mistral wind and the sun. This unique, rare, and closely guarded terroir is nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. This wine is gaining recognition and is now expanding into new export markets. The region's emblematic grape varieties lend their nobility to this unique terroir, composed of sun-drenched terraces, the key to the success of the wines. The estate's pride and joy is the Château, which produces Vacqueyras Cru wines, using hand-harvesting and sustainable farming practices validated by the High Environmental Value (HVE) label. The region's stony, clay-limestone soil gives the wines exceptional balance and structure. A surprising yet significant detail: the aging cellar is a troglodyte dwelling with a natural spring, providing ideal conditions for winemaking. This delicate winemaking process is further enhanced by the use of French oak barrels and demi-muids.
