Château du Champ du Moulin
Château du Champ du Moulin comprises 11 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, planted on the clay-limestone slopes overlooking the right bank of the Garonne River. Its white wines are classified as Entre-Deux-Mers, while its reds are classified as Bordeaux. A little anecdote about the estate: The Château du Champ du Moulin winery is built on the foundations of an old windmill. The prevailing winds that sweep across our slopes dispel humidity, giving our wines a remarkable finesse. The grapes ripen gently without being overheated. A little history of the estate: After beginning my winemaking career in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, then in Mercurey, Chablis, and Sauternes, I settled on the family land in Fossès-et-Baleyssac. In this land steeped in winemaking tradition, it is naturally through organic farming that the wealth of knowledge passed down through generations is perpetuated: my father and my two grandfathers were also farmers. The family story continues with Catherine, Aude, Thibault, Éric, and Michel. All these key figures wisely oversee every aspect of the estate. The pride of the estate: Certified organic since 2000 and awarded in 2013, Château du Champ du Moulin comprises 11 hectares of vines planted on the clay-limestone slopes overlooking the right bank of the Garonne River. It is located within the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation for its white wines, and the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations for its reds. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties, combined with a rootstock (Couder 3309), draw from this terroir all the necessary conditions to bring the grapes to optimal ripeness, resulting in wines full of flavor.
