A former restaurateur with a passion for wine, Patrick Gonzales is now on the other side of the mirror. He strives to make authentic wines, far removed from technological or trendy criteria, to deliver a supple and easy-drinking Saint-Émilion. Respectful and thoughtful, Patrick avoids herbicides and enriches his soils with organic fertilizer and green manure. Anecdotes from the estate: Wine is fascinating because it is so complex; it is a source of constant questioning and multiple experiments. Conversations about wine are always enriching and passionate. The wine that reflects me is a red wine with a deep color, a nose of ripe fruit, and structure and velvety texture on the palate. The estate's history: In 1980, Patrick's parents, Bernard and Yvette Gonzales, already owners of vineyards in Champagne, purchased Château Gessan. In 2002, their son Patrick, a chef and hotel-restaurateur for over 30 years and passionate about wine, changed careers. He took over the reins of the estate, teaching himself the ropes, with his wife Marie-Christine.
