Château La Bastide Rougepeyre
Anecdotes from the estate: Rooted in its history dating back to the Albigensian Crusades, the joyful life of Occitania is perpetuated here, centered around trouvères, troubadours, and its fine wines, thus honoring the term "Cabaret," whose etymological origin stems from these historic places and the courageous personality of Roper-Pierre de Cabaret. A brief history of the estate: In the Middle Ages, the Bastide was a dependency of the Lastours castles, which overlooked the Orbiel Valley and controlled access to the mineral wealth of the Montagne Noire. It was the lord of these fortresses, Roger-Pierre de Cabaret, who gave his current name to the Cabardès region (the lands of Cabaret) and to the estate in RougePeyre (derived from Roger-Pierre). After his surrender to Simon de Montfort, he left the Lastours castles in 1209 to settle on the eponymous Rogepeyre de Cabaret estate. Since the 17th century, nine generations of the same winegrower family have succeeded one another until today, where the Captain of the Ship and Countess Dominique de Lorgeril have dropped anchor to enliven the life of the estate and produce wines recognized for their typicity.
