Château Matheron

Anecdotes from the Estate: We owe our renown to the character of our terroir, our grape varieties, and our expertise in crafting wines of different cuvées: Tradition, Réserve, and Prestige. Just like my ancestors, I vinify and age my wines with the passion and professionalism that have built Matheron's reputation. A Brief History of the Estate: My maternal grandparents purchased the "Château Matheron" estate in 1962. They were already cultivating vines, as well as olive trees, and practicing sericulture (silkworm farming). After the advent of new fibers, the owners switched to monoculture viticulture. My father, Claude, took over the estate in 1983 and developed sales in the Var and Alpes-Maritimes regions. I joined the estate in 1992 and realized my vision of a new, decidedly modern winery and tasting room. The pride of the estate: In the heart of Provence, the Bernard family has been cultivating a Côtes de Provence AOP vineyard for several generations. Recently, the estate has modernized, adopting a contemporary design. They cultivate their vines on 15 hectares. Part of the estate lies on south-facing clay-limestone slopes, while the other is siliceous in the heart of the Maures plain.
