Anecdotes from the estate: A stop at Château Mémoire offers breathtaking views of the Garonne Valley and the chance to be surrounded by famous châteaux. Indeed, Château de Malagar was once the home of François Mauriac, and Château Malromé belonged to Toulouse-Lautrec. A little history of the estate: Winemaking is carried out by Jean-François and Beate Menard. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness. Some are aged in stainless steel tanks, while the best plots are aged in oak barrels for 6 to 12 months. The estate also produces a "Grains d'Or" cuvée, where the finest grapes are kept and aged in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months. Only the best vintages are offered for sale! All this work has been praised numerous times by critics, including Hachette, La Revue des Vins de France, and Decanter. The pride of the estate: The history of this vineyard began with Jean-François Menard in 1985, when the estate comprised 5 hectares. In 1992, an older wine-growing property was added to this plot. This history has fueled growth, as today the estate covers 35 hectares! The vines are located primarily on the right bank of the Garonne River, offering a setting that is both beautiful and ideal for viticulture! Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sémillon, and a few other grape varieties are planted on the slopes. All of the vineyards have been cultivated organically since 2012.
