Château Rouget
A Burgundy estate on Bordeaux's Right Bank: what a challenge! Thanks to meticulous work, Burgundian experience, and sometimes a willingness to take risks, Edouard Labruyère and his family have established themselves in the Bordeaux region. While using local grape varieties, the Labruyère family has produced wines worthy of France's most prestigious wine region, all while preserving the finesse of Burgundian wines. Challenge met! Estate anecdotes: Successive generations of Labruyère have always been deeply attached to traditional family and work values. We are particularly committed to controlling the entire wine value chain, owning our vineyards, and practicing environmentally responsible agriculture. Château Rouget 2012 was a great success for us despite a difficult vintage. We were patient and demonstrated great dedication both in the vineyard and in the cellar. By taking risks during winemaking, we have created a wine that reflects who we are: Burgundian finesse expressed through Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The story of the estate: Lovers of great French and Burgundian terroirs, by birth and by heart, we did not choose Pomerol by chance. This appellation, with its unique vineyard layout, is certainly the most Burgundian of the Bordeaux appellations. Thus, Château Rouget stands out as a haute couture estate in Bordeaux, basing all its work on a plot-by-plot approach. It wasn't easy in 1992 to gain acceptance from the Bordeaux wine community for the arrival of a Burgundian owner. But as always, hard work paid off. Over the years, we have proven our ability to produce truly great wines and truly great representatives of this magnificent wine region of France: Bordeaux. The pride of the estate. Known and recognized, particularly in the 19th century, Château Rouget nevertheless fell into slumber during the 20th century. Our family, originally from Mâcon, wished, in 1992, to revive its terroirs by investing both in modern and sustainable viticulture and by importing its knowledge of Burgundian winemaking.
