A 50-hectare family estate in the Médoc. We specialize in selling to wine merchants. A Médoc that has neither the look nor the taste of the region. A Médoc that aims to be artistic and different. Anecdotes from the Estate: Just like in fashion, each year our new collection is started from scratch with new grapes, processed in different ways depending on the vintage. Frédéric Méhaye created the Chateau SIPIAN brand in 1989 and has marketed it himself for over 30 years, making a point of working only with wine merchants, hotels, restaurants, and wholesalers, and refusing to enter the mass retail and wine trade sectors. To maintain a very high level of technical expertise, we now have four oenologists, two of whom are from abroad, who bring a great open-mindedness to our winemaking: Pierre-Jean Sanchez, Consulting Oenologist, a very prestigious figure in Bordeaux, yet very modest and little known. Nicolas Vivas, Consultant to the finest estates worldwide, including Bordeaux, has become a master of oak aging in wines, to the point of now heading the research laboratory of the world's leading cooperage group: Demptos. Although less well-known, he is a star of oenology on par with Michel Rolland. Luc Sermier, head oenologist at the Provins winery in Switzerland, which produces some of the finest wines of Valais, brings us the rigor of his country and impeccable technique. José Maria Soares Franco Do Rey, recognized as the king of Portuguese wines, with 20 years of experience producing Barca Velha, "the Portuguese Petrus," as well as magnificent projects conceived and launched from start to finish, such as Duorum wines, brings a certain flair to our project. At the helm of the creation, we find Quentin Méhaye, son of Frédéric, who joined the estate in 2014. Not a winemaker by any stretch of the imagination, he has the good sense to combine his passions with wine. Passionate about fashion, architecture, and art, he had the idea of linking winemaking to the aesthetic trends surrounding the population. Standing out from the crowd is the goal that gave rise to the ideas of "WINE DESIGN" and moving away from the traditional Bordeaux bottle. A little history of the estate: The watchword is WINE DESIGN. Our vision of wine has evolved. After a long period of self-reflection, we decided to forge our own path. Already far removed from many winemaking practices, particularly strict adherence to calendars, we offer you SIPIAN wines—wines that reflect who we are, with our own style, inspired by current trends in our daily lives. Today, we are working on "The Purity of Wine." The pride of the estate: A 50-hectare family property in the Médoc. We specialize in selling to wine merchants. A Médoc that doesn't have the typical look or taste. A Médoc that aspires to be artistic and different.
