Château Trillol
Anecdotes from the Estate: While clearing a plot of land to plant Carignan vines, we found a young holm oak right in the middle of it. We decided to leave it there, even though it was taking up space, consuming some of the land where we could have planted more vines. You have to admit, they're crazy at Trillol! Today, this magnificent oak spreads its branches, inviting picnics in its reassuring shade, and is visible from all over the valley. It has quite naturally become the symbol of our estate. A Little History of the Estate: Owned by the Sichel family, Henri and I arrived more than twenty years ago to manage the estate, from the vineyards to sales. Over the years, we have found wines that reflect who we are: honest, generous, and well-balanced. Our range has expanded over the years, driven by our search for the very essence of what this natural environment can offer at its best. Constantly respecting the natural life of these beautiful mountain valleys, our reasoned and thoughtful approach considers the sustainable and healthy future of the region. Like many of our fellow winemakers, we are unconditionally passionate about our terroir, one of those passionate individuals who aren't afraid to explore challenging paths to achieve even greater things. While Henri is the man of technique and blending, Martine strives to satisfy every customer eager to share our common passion for wine. With the help of our highly efficient and detail-oriented team, we are proud of what we have accomplished! The pride of the estate: The forty-five-hectare vineyard, stretching from the Cucugnan valley, through Duilhac-sous-Peyreperuse, and up to Rouffiac-des-Corbières, on sunny, rocky slopes at an altitude of over four hundred meters, yields grapes that ripen slowly, refining the tannins. The grape varieties used in the blends will be Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache for the red. The white will have the privilege of featuring a majority of Roussanne, a beautiful grape with such distinctive aromas, alongside Maccabeu. The rosé, made using the saignée method with Grenache, remains pale in color with aromas of grenadine. Planted deep in the rocky soil of schist and sandstone, the vines draw minerals and a little freshness from the depths, concentrating them in the grapes. These are structured and balanced wines with round tannins and surprising finesse, a delight for all lovers of the Hautes-Corbières.
