Anecdotes from the Estate: The most striking recent anecdote is the transformation of Clos Triguedina in 2017/2018 in terms of wine tourism: the creation of a beautiful architectural complex, the "Pavillon des Vins" (Wine Pavilion), built in the heart of the estate, a truly luxurious setting to welcome visitors in exceptional conditions. This investment reflects the desire to raise the estate's profile even further. The contemporary architecture of the Pavillon des Vins and its annexes (museum, educational workshop, office) housed in the renovated former buildings provide welcoming spaces ideally suited for both business and leisure tourism, whether for groups or individuals. A small detail: the museum features a display case, "The Gilded Glories of the French Republic," showcasing menus, some recent and others not so recent (mentioning Clos Triguedina wines), from the Élysée Palace, the Senate, and various ministries. The estate's history: In 1830, Etienne Baldès planted his first plots of Cahors wine at Clos Triguedina. He had identified the finest terraces in the Lot Valley. Since then, seven generations of winemakers have ensured the estate's continuity! The vineyard, partially destroyed by phylloxera in 1877, was subsequently replanted. Protected by a microclimate, it was only partially affected by the severe frosts of 1956, which allows for a relatively old grape variety composition in the top-of-the-range wines today. René Baldès, a renowned winemaker, participated in the creation of the first Cahors winegrowers' association and the Confrérie (Brotherhood). He was also the most sought-after vine grafter in the region. Jean Baldès, a passionate winemaker always seeking innovation, built the first stainless steel winery in the Cahors AOC in 1976. During his time as a winemaker, he doubled the vineyard area and focused on producing fine wines. Today, Jean-Luc Baldès, along with his wife Sabine, who is from Burgundy, ensures the family tradition at the helm of the estate. Jean-Luc Baldès has forged a reputation as a "master of Malbec." Juliette Baldès, Jean-Luc and Sabine's daughter, decided at the age of five to become a winemaker and continue the Baldès family history at Clos Triguedina. She is currently pursuing her studies with this goal in mind, encouraged by her younger brother Jean, who is also very interested in everything that happens at Clos Triguedina. The pride of the Clos Triguedina estate is the cradle of the Baldès family since 1830, spread across the finest terroirs of the Cahors appellation in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th terraces! Jean-Luc Baldès, worthy heir and audacious winemaker, often repeats: "The magic of Clos Triguedina is the richness of its terroirs which allows me to give free rein to my imagination."
