Domaine Blanc Plume
“We only occupy the earth of our children for a very short time. So it's up to us to take care of it, to be as honest as possible with ourselves about the choices we make." Anecdotes from the estate: After several years of learning organic and biodynamic viticulture at various estates in Provence (notably Aix-en-Provence and Les Baux-de-Provence), I settled in the Pyrénées-Orientales, on the foothills of the Agly Valley at an altitude of 350 meters in the Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes terroir. The vineyard plots are fragmented, spread across five small parcels, allowing us to take advantage of microclimates and different soils (from very calcareous for our Chardonnay to very schistous for the Syrah and old Carignan vines). The old vines are goblet-pruned, the Syrah on the schist slopes is cordon-trained, and the rest of the vineyard is Guyot-trained. Thanks to the talent of the young Marseille artist "Sandrot," who shares our philosophy, we wanted to pay tribute to three birds. by associating them with our first vintages. Beyond the drawings, which we find sublime, it became clear to us that a strong link had been established between the descriptions of the birds and the wines. Our vineyards are also bordered by a long-distance hiking trail, the GR36, which follows a stream called Sant Jaume (Saint James in Catalan). It is a multi-sensory space conducive to meditation and rejuvenation. Numerous scents of plants, flowers, and humus, a freshness linked to the strong minerality and the many waterfalls. We wanted wines that reflected this: vivacity, fruit, fluidity, and serenity, to be savored mindfully. The photographer Saint.E, from Perpignan, was able to guide us in capturing the very essence of these landscapes. The history of the estate: The 8-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of the Corbières Fenouillèdes Regional Natural Park, home to 47 protected bird species. by a European directive, including the Red Kite, an eagle with a white feather. Like a winemaker's wine, the name "Blanc Plume" also evokes for us the writer's pen and the white of the page. Each new vintage is for us a new page to write and to tell you about through our wines. The pride of the estate: Domaine Blanc Plume was born from the idea of nature's resilience and the need to return to the fundamentals of biodynamic agriculture.
