Anecdotes from the Estate: Deeply attached to our region, our estate is dedicated to producing high-quality wines that respect their terroir and appellation. We practice sustainable viticulture to minimize human impact on the wine and the environment. In our vineyards, we use only certified organic products, but we will not hesitate to intervene in the event of a serious problem. To work our soils, we use organic fertilizers and favor tilling and mowing over herbicides. Finally, we employ mating disruption, an environmentally friendly alternative to insecticides that is non-toxic to both grapes and humans. In our cellars, priority is given to the natural expression of the grapes. For its winemaking, the estate favors indigenous yeasts, naturally present in the grapes, and limits filtration by adapting its work to the characteristics of each vintage. We strive for simplicity in our approach so that the wine remains, above all, synonymous with pleasure and sharing. The history of the estate: Domaine Claude Lafond is a family story, the story of a passion passed down through three generations. The adventure began in the early 1960s when my grandfather, André Lafond, a vineyard worker and cowherd, bought some land to plant vines. He was quickly joined by his son, Claude Lafond (my father), and the two men gradually expanded the small operation. When André Lafond passed away in 1977, my father was only 25 years old. He decided to take over the estate and embarked on a daring challenge: to revive the Reuilly vineyards. After the devastation caused by phylloxera, the focus was more on planting cereals than vines. But Claude Lafond, deeply attached to his land and its history, managed to persuade his friends and the surrounding grain farmers to change course. Together, they expanded the Reuilly AOC from 48 hectares to 225 today. The Lafond estate has also grown considerably. It now comprises over forty hectares, including 35 hectares in the Reuilly AOC, 3 hectares in the Valençay AOC, and 5 hectares in the Val de Loire IGP. Now, it is I, Nathalie, Claude's daughter, who continue the adventure, committed to upholding the family motto: one soil, one plant, one climate, and one people. The pride of the estate: A family estate for three generations. We cultivate 35 hectares in the Reuilly AOC, 3 hectares in the Valençay AOC, and 5 hectares in the Val de Loire IGP.
