DOMAINE DE LA VAILLERE

Located on the slopes of the Cévennes foothills, between the Gardon valley and the garrigue landscape, the Saint Jean de Serres vineyard lies on the border of Languedoc and the Rhône Valley, on clay-limestone soils. Anecdotes from the estate: Improving quality has been the greatest challenge faced by the winemakers of our region in recent decades, thanks to their hard work and their deep connection to this exceptional terroir. Our ancestors were among those who championed resistant grape varieties (then called hybrids), and one of them, more committed than the others, was nicknamed Don Quixote. Today, our "Origine" Villard white wine comes from one of the preserved plots from that heroic era, and its surprising aromas captivate many wine lovers. The story of the estate: Our family settled on this land at the beginning of the 20th century, acquiring the village's "château" and its small vineyard. For five generations, and through a history full of twists and turns, they have never ceased to cultivate the vines with passion and dedication. 2017 marked a year of renewal with the return to the estate of members from diverse backgrounds, some in IT, others in the entertainment industry, and still others in other professions. The alliance of centuries-old family traditions and the modernity stemming from the diverse experiences of our renewed team gives us the energy and enthusiasm to continue this adventure with a virtuous approach (Terra Vitis in 2019) and then towards organic farming with certification obtained in 2023. It is now towards agroecology that we are planning our long journey... The pride of the estate. We have taken up this torch with pride, and the encounter with a passionate couple who have been established for about ten years has allowed us to build an atypical and diverse team whose characteristics are reflected in the wines of Domaine de la Vaillère. The production of our wines exalts the intrinsic qualities of our terroir through innovative methods combining rigor and inspiration to offer surprising and varied wines already distinguished and awarded on many occasions (Concours Général Agricole, Vignerons indépendants, Bettane et Desseauve, Terre de vins, Guide Hachette, ...), and more locally an award of excellence awarded by the jury of the Uzès wine fair.
