Domaine des Allegrets is a family vineyard, passed down through four generations. Our vines cover 19 hectares. We also cultivate 9 hectares of plum trees. We produce red, dry white, and sweet wines. We grow six grape varieties: Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sémillon, the authentic grape variety of the Côtes de Duras appellation. Our soils are composed of clay and limestone for the white wines and sandy-clay soils for the red and sweet wines. Legend has it that our 115-year-old Sémillon vines grow in soil of the same vein as Pétrus… Respect for nature and the environment is part of our DNA. This is why we have been managing our estate according to organic farming principles for 10 years now, and have been in conversion for 2 years. We practice polyculture, cultivating vines, but also plum trees, a vegetable garden, flowers, beehives, and numerous tree species… A whole ecosystem thrives on our property… We have many animals and insects living in symbiosis: bees, bumblebees, hedgehogs, deer, hens, roosters, donkeys, horses, swallows, buzzards, earthworms, ladybugs… The vineyard is treated like a garden, and the harmony between humans and nature is paramount for us… Anecdotes from the estate: For us, being a winemaker is first and foremost about bringing pleasure to the person who drinks the wine. And we want the wine to be appreciated for what's INSIDE the bottle, not ON the bottle. Therefore, it is our intention not to highlight medals or any other advantages our wine may have. Our bottle is neutral, but our wine is remarkably original and refined. To discover it, you'll have to open the bottle... A little history of the estate: Creativity is the second value deeply rooted in our estate. We strive to innovate every year, creating new cuvées and new winemaking techniques to continually surprise you. Our Malbec cuvée with no added sulfites is a prime example: an exclusive in the Côtes de Duras, we are pioneers and proud of it. This is just the first of many to come... At Domaine des Allégrets, we love to share. We want to share our passion for wine with you, crafting cuvées that will satisfy everyone's desires and tastes. Sharing the values and expertise passed down by our grandfather, Pierre Carrier, to whom we have dedicated a cuvée. Share warm and convivial moments at the estate through personalized and fun tours, and tasting/theater evenings. We work our soils mechanically: no pesticides or herbicides are used for weed control. Against diseases, we use only natural products: copper and sulfur only. Against insect pests, we use natural mating disruption hormones. We also restore a balance between fauna and flora, which allows us to combat infestations naturally. We plant green manure to loosen the soil and allow insects to recolonize our land. The harvest is done mechanically, except for the Malbec and Sémillon grapes, which we pick by hand. We vinify our grapes in several ways: fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks for our fruity wines, such as the sulfur-free Malbec, the "Grande Règes," or the Sauvignon.
