Domaine des Bosquets
Anecdotes from the Estate: Between us, we often say that Domaine des Bosquets is "like Sleeping Beauty, but she's already awake..." A Little History of the Estate: We found notarial records indicating the existence of "vinea culta" in 1376 at the place called "Les Bosquets" in Gigondas. It was there that Jean de Rivière, Lord of Laval, built the first structure of the estate. Several emblematic figures succeeded one another, such as Eugène Raspail, who enabled the estate's growth from 1861 onwards. 100 years later, Gabriel Meffre brought his innovative vision. Since then, it has remained a family estate. In 1987, Sylvette took over the property. Her son then joined her. They created a new winery in the shape of a Provençal chapel. Finally, in 2006, I took over the estate. The pride of the estate: Vines have been cultivated on this estate for six centuries! They benefit from an exceptional climate, protected from the Mistral wind, and an altitude that imparts freshness and maturity to the wine. The soil, composed of blue marl and limestone, allows for the production of refined, mineral, and elegant wines. The vineyard is cultivated using sustainable farming practices, with measured intervention to allow the soil to express the quintessence of the terroir. The estate's founding grape variety is Grenache, which gives the wines of Les Bosquets their distinctive character. It is blended with Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, which contribute aromatic diversity, structure, and aging potential. Yields are low (25 hl/ha), and only the finest bunches are used in winemaking.
