Domaine des Closiers

Domaine des Closiers is located in Parnay, in the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation. Anecdotes about the estate: The "closiers" were the winegrowers who worked within the walled vineyards and lived in the troglodyte dwellings at the foot of the hillside. The estate still boasts several typical troglodyte dwellings. A brief history of the estate: A family estate for several generations, Domaine des Closiers was taken over by Anatole de La Brosse in 2019 with the ambition of making it a leading producer within the Saumur Champigny appellation. The terroir was already well-suited to this ambition, and the vineyard work had received the HVE3 certification. Anatole decided to go further in working the soil and begin the conversion to organic farming, assisted by Michel Chevré. The entire winemaking process was overhauled, with significant investment in new equipment to better respect the wine. The troglodytic cellar has been converted to house barrels for aging wine.
