Anecdotes from the Estate: Crossed by the Via Domitia, a major center of grape cultivation for 3,000 years, the estate boasts a magnificent 11th-century chapel, and recent archaeological excavations have uncovered numerous remains of Roman houses. All these elements demonstrate the importance of our heritage. The entire region's economic activity was concentrated here due to key factors: the presence of water, the quality of the terroir, and accessibility; even then, viticulture was essential. Now, it is our turn to showcase the riches of this terroir, which you will find reflected in our wines. In addition to being awarded three vine leaves by Inter Rhône for the quality of our tasting room and visitor experience, this year we received the highly coveted "Wine Tourism Distinction" from Inter Rhône in partnership with Atout France for all our services. We take care of you, and this is just the beginning... The story of the estate: It was in the heart of the Luberon, between Gordes and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, that we settled in 2012 for an extraordinary adventure: to breathe new life into a wine estate with great potential, but whose vines had never been cultivated to produce quality wines. An adventure described as a stroke of madness by many visitors when they saw the scale of the work we had undertaken, from the renovation of the fortified farmhouse to the construction of a winery and the restructuring of the vineyard... In four years, what a journey it has been! It is a constantly renewed joy for us to welcome you to the estate, to introduce you to our wines, to host you in our gîtes, and to invite you to join us for the many events organized throughout the year. Welcome to Domaine des Peyre! The pride of the estate: After a few years without a winemaker, the estate, now under the management of Patricia Alexandre (former director of Gault Millau), is experiencing a complete renaissance following a total restructuring of the vineyard and the installation of state-of-the-art technical facilities. Situated on a beautiful terroir, facing south for the Ventoux and north for the Luberon, the 26 hectares in production are cultivated using eco-friendly methods. Planted with the great grape varieties of the Rhône Valley, the estate produces rich, fruit-forward red wines; its white wines offer a unique range, allowing, with guidance from Philippe Cambie (named World's Best Winemaker by Robert Parker in 2010), the creation of very attractive white wines with a distinctive character. The estate also produces delightful rosé wines. Finally, the estate includes five apartments for those who wish to experience a stay in the heart of a vineyard.
