Anecdotes from the Estate: Working the vines is first and foremost a true passion and a way of life! Although it's sometimes difficult to combine this passion with the vagaries of the weather... The vine is ever-present in our lives, both in our landscape and in our conversations with friends, colleagues, and clients. For us, the winemaker, unlike the grape grower who simply cultivates the land, constantly adds a personal touch to their wine, both when working the soil and during the winemaking process. Like the twelve Beaujolais crus, each with its own distinct character, each winemaker produces a wine that reflects their own unique style! A Brief History of the Estate: It was in 1986 that I created my first vintage. A true success, it was awarded a Gold Medal in Beaujolais-Villages at the Mâcon wine competition. Over the years, I have constantly evolved and learned to control the winemaking process from start to finish. We therefore produce our wine in a traditional and independent manner, from vinification to bottling, in the 13th-century cellars of Château du Thil. The pride of the estate: My family estate, which my wife and I have cultivated for over twenty years, covers approximately ten hectares. With a view to the estate's continuous development and the renewal of our working techniques, we have chosen to uproot some of the sloping plots and replant them using trellising. Furthermore, in order to offer a wider range of products, we also cultivate vines in Burgundy. Thus, we have five different grape varieties (some of which are surprising and not widely cultivated), which is rather rare in our region where Gamay reigns supreme!
