An Organic and High Environmental Value Vineyard: Anecdotes from the Estate. For anecdotes... the best way to experience them is to come and enjoy them in the cellar! A Little History of the Estate: Maison Humbrecht-Trapp was founded in 1949, but the Humbrecht family has been making wine from father to son since 1620. Today, Patrick Humbrecht manages the estate. He runs the vineyard daily with his wife Ann-Sophie and his parents Annie and Michel. Michel is involved in the winemaking process every day. As Patrick's father, he is open to new methods and ideas for production. He is always ready to offer advice and a helping hand to his son. The 7.5-hectare vineyard has been in conversion to organic farming since 2020; certification will take effect for the 2023 vintage. The entire estate has also been HVE (High Environmental Value) certified since 2019. The Estate's Pride: Patrick's goal is to produce wine with passion and respect. Since officially joining the estate, he has strived to make his own mark on the vineyard, always guided by the sound advice and experience of his parents. Michel knows the Gueberschwihr vineyards like the back of his hand, and he passes this knowledge on to Patrick. Their understanding of soil conditions, wind, sun, and vine placement provides a solid foundation for winemaking. Patrick is fortunate that his mother, Annie, has a background in office work, so she handles this role on a daily basis. After many years with the company, Annie has extensive knowledge of wine, which is why she also enjoys welcoming customers to the cellar and representing the estate at wine fairs, etc. Ann-Sophie moved from Hørsholm (Denmark) to Gueberschwihr in 2018. She quickly integrated into the family business and made a name for herself with a few outsiders. Today, she is involved in marketing, wine tastings for Danish customers, and hosting guests at the estate's guesthouse, and she regularly attends wine tasting courses.
