Le Taillou
Anecdotes from the Estate: Our French terroirs inspire dreams around the world, and we're no exception. So we felt it was our duty to work to the fullest with what the land offers, adding a touch of modernity to these traditional wines. This is our way of staying relevant in today's world... through our work in the vineyard and the cellar. We work every day to create a supple and elegant wine that pairs perfectly with fish, meat (red or white), and if you're lucky enough to have an old bottle tucked away in your cellar, serve it with a cheese board... the moment speaks for itself! This is exactly what we strive to convey in our wines: sharing and joy. The Estate's Story: The estate began when Yvan had the idea to cultivate a plot of land to produce his own wine... he would be a hundred years old today! Currently, Nathalie and her brother Sylvain, the third generation, run this family estate. The continued success of the estate is our daily driving force. Yvan and Emilienne Feydieu, the founders, began working the vines in the early 1950s to produce their wine... and thus the first bottles of Taillou were born. What pride we feel in taking over this estate so dear to our family! And it's not over yet; the next generation is preparing with Claude, Yvan and Emilienne's son. He trained at the La Tour Blanche school (in Sauternes), went to work on the estate, and took over in 1985. Taillou is truly a family affair. In 1993, Nicolas, Claude's son, after attending viticulture and oenology school, joined the estate to give it the new impetus of the third generation! Alas, fate decided otherwise, and he tragically left us in 2004, tragically taken by a car accident. So, to prevent this family story from ending so abruptly, and to continue the work begun by Nicolas, Sylvain and Nathalie (his brother and sister) decided to take up the challenge with Claude's help. Today, Le Taillou continues to be nurtured with care, to accompany each of your convivial moments. The pride of the estate: Our vineyard thrives on clay-limestone soil, which gives the wine its character. Located in the heart of the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, we benefit from a superb environment to cultivate our vines and provide them with the best natural resources to produce a balanced wine accessible to all. Our oldest vines are planted on a west-facing slope and give us the Cuvée Le Taillou d'Yvan, a nod to the first winemaker.
