"Being free to make the wines we love!" says Dirk, a former race car driver, even if it means taking some of his wines outside the AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) to have the freedom to create his own blends, his own signature style. The passion, precision, risk assessment, and teamwork of his former life as a driver are now reflected in the winemaker he has become! Estate anecdotes: "Although we don't advertise it, our vineyard is managed organically. We like to highlight our grape varieties, to allow for strong identification and easy comparison." The story behind the estate: "After a career as a racing driver and several years as a Lancia and Maserati dealer, I was drawn to the South. I created Domaine Le Plan in 2000 with 1.7 hectares and 5 gîtes (holiday cottages). The wine business quickly took over, and in 2009 I sold the gîtes to build a new, modern winery in Suze-la-Rousse. Since then, the estate has expanded, and I currently own 25 hectares. After fulfilling my dream of becoming a racing driver, here's another dream come true with Domaine Le Plan Vermeersch!"
