Located in the La Livinière appellation, Les Clos des Pères is a 3.5-hectare estate. Cultivated biodynamically with respect for the terroir, the plots of Cinsault, Grenache, old Carignan (67 years old), and Syrah take on a new dimension... Estate Anecdotes: Cultivated by hand with respect for the terroir and nature, we strive to keep the land alive to reveal the best of our vines. And we have a great deal of passion to create a wine that reflects who we are. A grandfather, a father, and a meeting between a graphic designer and a winemaker. The Estate's Story: Our estate comprises 7 plots, totaling 3.75 hectares. Our plots grow on soils of varying composition, predominantly clay-limestone. At Clos des Pères, we cultivate old Grenache Noir, Grenache Gris, Cinsault, Carignan, and Syrah. Biodynamics is at the heart of our daily work. Respect for the land and the vines leads us to work primarily by hand to avoid soil compaction. We harvest entirely by hand, placing the grapes in crates to keep them intact until they reach the vats. Vinification takes place in vats, allowing for a gentle and slow extraction of aromas. Aging is then carefully adapted to the vintage and grape variety to guide the wine through a slow maturation process. This maturation occurs in vats or in barrels that have held several wines, with capacities ranging from 228 to 500 liters. Winter is a time of settling: the sap in the vines, and the lees in our barrels! Then comes spring, with the emergence of leaves and the first grapes. Summer allows the new vintage to develop its structure. Finally, autumn arrives, a time of activity in the vineyards. It's a time of waiting for optimal ripeness for our wines. Fermentation occurs entirely naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts and without any additives. Depending on the vintage, a small amount of sulfites may be added at bottling for certain cuvées.
