Our organically farmed plots are nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees on a terroir of clay-limestone gravel, tempered by a mid-altitude climate favorable to slow ripening... Anecdotes of the estate: It is at the westernmost edge of the Corbières that the Saint Polycarpe valley meets the Haute Vallée of the Limoux appellation. In this upper part of the Aude valley, the Haute-Vallée terroir lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees at an altitude of 250m to 450m. This mid-altitude terroir is characterized by a cooler, more humid climate and an early autumn, resulting in longer and later ripening. The story of the Les Tounals estate is one of returning to the land, following in the footsteps of our ancestors. After years spent in different environments, a father and son decided to take over the old family estate, which had been left abandoned. The pride of the estate: Our organically farmed plots are nestled at the foot of the Pyrenees on a terroir of clay-limestone gravel, tempered by a mid-altitude climate that promotes slow ripening, preserving freshness and vibrancy in our wines. Our vineyards are entirely grassed naturally and controlled by a mowing system; soil cultivation is limited to preserve organic activity and biodiversity.
