Anecdotes from the Estate: I've always had a passion for vines and wine, especially Beaujolais wines, thanks to my grandfather and father, winemakers in Theizé, Beaujolais, who loved their craft. A Little History of the Estate: When I introduce myself, I always say that I'm a winemaker's son, a wine merchant since February 2005, and a lifelong lover of Beaujolais. I've traveled the world of wine and discovered many other vineyards, but I've returned to my home region, Beaujolais. When you love what you do, the work is easier, more enjoyable. The Beaujolais vineyard remains a vineyard of artisan winemakers with a great deal of manual labor. Contrary to popular belief, these are handcrafted wines that require a lot of human effort, allowing the Gamay grape variety to fully express itself. The 69 collection is proof that I continue to believe more and more in the future of our Beaujolais vineyards, which offer us remarkable wines, even within the generic appellations that sometimes unfairly suffer from preconceived notions or negative prejudices. The new generation of winemakers in Beaujolais offers wines of pure pleasure, and if a vineyard's reputation were to be determined by the level of pleasure provided by the wine tasted, then I am very confident about the future of our vineyards, which will enjoy growing renown in the years to come! The pride of the estate: Coming from a long line of winemakers, Christophe Coquard made wine on three different continents before launching his own artisanal winery in Beaujolais in 2005, based at the family estate located in Theizé, in southern Beaujolais, in the Pays des Pierres Dorées (Land of Golden Stones). With his wines, he perpetuates family traditions and brings new ideas. It's part of the vineyard's revival, and Beaujolais 69 is proof that he continues to believe more and more in the future of Beaujolais, which offers remarkable wines, even within the generic appellations. Regarding Beaujolais 69, Christophe states that it's "an original, contemporary, accessible wine, perfectly suited to modern consumption; a wine of pure pleasure."
