Anecdotes from the Estate: Through sheer determination, we have instilled a different perspective on the region's wines. A new identity built through atypical grape varieties such as Marselan, Caladoc, and Vermentino, but above all, thanks to our passion for the unspoiled nature that surrounds us. The Estate's History: Founded in 1426 by Dr. François Valériolle from Arles, it has belonged to the Michel family since the 1960s, who have perpetuated a winemaking tradition from father to son for six generations. Patrick Michel, my father, convinced of the potential of this terroir, decided in 1987 to restructure the vineyard in order to plant new varieties chosen for their aromatic potential: Marselan, Caladoc, Vermentino, and the more classic Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Chardonnay. Determined to restore the Camargue vineyards to their former glory, he actively participated in the creation of the "Terre de Camargue" (Camargue Land) regional designation, which since 2012 has united the winemakers of the Camargue Regional Natural Park under a single identity. After studying oenology, which led me to travel throughout the Old and New Worlds, I have now returned to the estate to bring a fresh perspective to the style of our wines and to support my father both in the cellar and in the vineyards. Maxime MICHEL. The pride of the estate. Our family estate, "Mas de Valériole," is located in the heart of the Camargue Regional Natural Park in Provence. For the past twelve years, its entire production has been organically farmed. The estate is planted on alluvial limestone soils deposited over centuries by the Rhône River and benefits from a Mediterranean climate, exceptional sunshine, and low rainfall.
