Saint-Chinian | Red | 2023

This Saint-Chinian Berlou AOC wine is distinguished by its meticulous winemaking. Made primarily from Mourvèdre grapes, it grows on schist soils situated between 250 and 300 meters above sea level, an ideal terroir thanks to its exceptional natural conditions. The vines benefit from agro-ecological viticulture, enjoying a climate tempered by a constant breeze. Vinification in stainless steel tanks, with regular destemming and punch-downs, guarantees optimal aroma extraction, while aging in tanks for 10 months ensures a beautiful roundness.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the moment it's opened, this wine reveals remarkable aromatic intensity. On the nose, complex aromas of black fruit and spice unfold, evoking the surrounding garrigue. On the palate, the Mourvèdre provides elegant structure and beautiful depth. The tannins are present yet silky, contributing to a smooth and harmonious texture. With each sip, the altitude and the typicity of the schist soils are expressed through a refreshing minerality, offering a perfect balance that awakens the senses. This wine is a true discovery for lovers of authentic terroirs.

These wines possess a kind of instinctive harmony, as if the many grape varieties of Minervois readily coexist. Carignan, Grenache, Cinsault: each contributes a nuance without overpowering the others. The white wines, though rarer, are surprising. The winemaking is straightforward, sometimes a little rough around the edges, but the overall impression is one of genuine sincerity. In short: highly drinkable.
