Saumur-Champigny | Red | 2023

This Cabernet Franc is made from 45-year-old vines rooted in clay-limestone soil. Vinification is entirely natural, without added yeasts or oenological additives, and the wine is then aged for four months in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruit's freshness. Its deep purple color and delicately spicy nose with notes of blackcurrant and menthol reflect a traditional approach that highlights the finesse and purity of the grape variety.

Our opinion on the vintage

On tasting, this wine is distinguished by its intense purple color with ruby highlights. The nose reveals a beautiful complexity with fresh aromas of blackcurrant, a hint of pepper, and a discreet touch of menthol. On the palate, it offers a round and ample texture, with a captivating purity of fruit. The tannins are exceptionally delicate, making the tasting smooth and enjoyable. The finish is subtly chewy, combining flavors of blackcurrant and menthol, with an overall sensation of natural freshness. A magnificent Cabernet to be savored for its elegance and purity.

In Brézé and Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, Arnaud Lambert works some of the most emblematic limestone terroirs of the Saumur region. This diversity of soils allows him to explore contrasting expressions of Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, with particular attention paid to the purity of the profiles and the precision of the balance.

The grapes are rigorously ripened to preserve the fruit's vibrancy and a clean structure. The white wines are distinguished by a marked tension and a precise mineral expression, while the reds favor gentle extractions, resulting in fine textures and well-integrated tannins. Aging is tailored to each cuvée and vintage, always designed to complement the wine without influencing its style.

The entire body of work from the estate offers a clear and refined interpretation of these Loire Valley terroirs, with wines built on accuracy, precision and the ability to faithfully translate their origin.
