Rocca Nigra 2018

Anjou Villages Brissac | Red | 2018

ROCCA NIGRA is a red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, organically grown on slate and Armorican sandstone soils. The winemaking process favors a gentle approach with a long maceration, followed by 18 months of aging. This wine is distinguished by its intense color and aromas of black fruit and licorice wood. It is particularly well-suited to grilled meats and spicy dishes, and benefits from decanting before serving.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the first whiff, ROCCA NIGRA reveals a rich bouquet where blackcurrant reigns supreme, accompanied by hints of pepper and menthol. On the palate, it surprises with its immediate freshness, unfolding in a delicate ballet, carried by an ethereal texture. The blackcurrant notes are vibrant and intense, leaving an almost exhilarating aftertaste. The velvety structure offers a rare harmony, with a long, lingering finish marked by subtle concentration and refined elegance.

In Anjou, Domaine de Bablut primarily works with Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc, emblematic grape varieties of the region. The vineyard rests largely on schist soils, which impart a tension and vibrancy to the wines, perceptible in both the white and red varieties.

The winemaking process is carried out with precision, favoring moderate extraction to preserve the purity of the fruit and the balance of the structure. The white wines express themselves with lively and straightforward profiles, while the reds maintain a clear framework and measured structure. Aging remains discreet, designed to complement the wines without influencing their style.

All the wines are distinguished by an assumed sobriety and a natural relief, offering a faithful and legible reading of the Anjou terroirs, without seeking effects or demonstration.
