With "Cheval en Tête," Domaine Cosse et Maisonneuve offers a unique cuvée crafted from vineyards comprising 70% Ugni Blanc, complemented by Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is made from young vines grown on the marl-limestone and Kimmeridgian soils of the Quercy region. Careful winemaking, including slow pressing and fermentation with indigenous yeasts, preserves a natural and harmonious expression. Aging on fine lees adds richness and depth to the wine.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The nose of "Cheval en Tête" opens with captivating aromas of grapefruit, complemented by a hint of honey and a subtle smokiness. On the palate, the wine reveals a full-bodied, fresh texture, true to the aromas detected on the nose. The tasting experience continues with a long, balanced finish, featuring elegant bitter notes that lend structure. This wine offers a lovely aromatic freshness, supported by a natural balance derived from fully ripe grapes—a signature characteristic of this estate, which respects its terroirs.

Cahors, yes, but in a refined, vertical expression, where Malbec never aims for excessive richness. Catherine Maisonneuve and Mathieu Cosse have instilled a new approach: less extraction, more dynamism, and meticulously controlled aging processes. The wines exhibit a tight grain and a linearity that characterize great modern Cahors. In short: remarkable purity.
