Rabasse Charavin
The estate covers 40 hectares. It has been in the family for six generations. The vineyards span several appellations: Vin de France, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu, Cairanne... Estate Anecdotes: A winemaker's life is passionately varied! Each vintage is different. It's a pleasure to see the culmination of the work we've done throughout the year. My passion for wine and vines came from my parents, who passed it on to me through their work. The Estate's History: Since childhood, we have lived and breathed vines and wine. They are our roots. The story begins in Cairanne with Edmond Rabasse around 1890. He bought the first three hectares of the estate. At the time, he worked as both a hatter and a winemaker. Around 1925, his son, my great-grandfather Marcel Rabasse, an electrician and winemaker, took over the vineyard and added 5 hectares of vines and olive trees. Then, in 1950, my grandmother, Jeanine Rabasse, married Abel Charavin. Together, they took over the vineyard. The vines of Rasteau, my grandfather's birthplace, were added to the Cairanne vineyards. The property then covered 20 hectares. In 1984, my mother, Corinne, took over the reins. My father, Jean Paul Couturier, who doesn't work on the estate but comes from a winemaking family, also contributed vines from Plan de Dieu and Violès. In 1993, I joined the team. The estate, the pride of the property, covers 40 hectares and has been in the family for five generations. The vineyard lies within several appellations: Vin de France, Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu, Cairanne, and Rasteau. The harvest is entirely manual. The estate is in conversion to organic farming and is certified High Environmental Value.
