This vintage was born from a very sad morning, on April 26, 2017, when frost wreaked havoc in the vineyards of the Damien and Florence Laureau estate. This sad and cold landscape was represented very soberly by the Anjou painter Frédéric Eymeri on the label of this rare bottle (2400 bottles) because it is unique. This wine was indeed produced from the estate's Chenin vines planted on aeolian sand and sandstone schist soils, from what remained of these frozen plots, gathered into a single vintage. It is therefore the only 2017 wine you will find from the Laureau estate.
The vines were tended with the greatest care, according to organic methods and the know-how of the Laureau estate. After manual harvesting, this wine was aged on lees and in oak barrels for 12 months before spending another 9 months in vats.

Domaine Laureau
In Savennières, Laureau crafts Chenin Blanc with a generous yet refined style. The white wines acquire a silky texture underpinned by a mineral tension characteristic of the schist soil. Extended aging, often on the lees, adds volume without masking the aromatic precision. These are profound yet disciplined wines that reflect the distinct identity of the terroir.
