Vignoble Réveille
Domaine Réveille cultivates 11 hectares of vines in a garrigue landscape, in the terroirs of the Upper Agly Valley in Roussillon. Anecdotes from the estate: Being a winemaker is our full-time job, a life in which we are committed and responsible. The annual cycle of the vine and the wine is both rapid and demanding, requiring us to make meaningful choices that shape our work for the future. These choices compel us to learn from nature, from others, and to continually question ourselves. The estate's history: Roussillon offers diverse soils and exposures, but also incredible human stories. Local winegrowers often gave up working the vines because the cooperative system doesn't encourage the production of quality grapes. Consequently, many plots are sold or uprooted. In 2006, I took over some old vines and local grape varieties. My choice fell on mid-altitude terroirs with the aim of producing wines of the South, full of freshness. I was convinced by the potential of these terroirs, and I admired the quality of the wines produced by the "new winemakers" in this region. I was completely captivated by the beauty of nature, which has remained wild. In Cassagnes, a village in the upper Agly Valley, I found old Carignan vines growing on gneiss soils facing the Corbières mountains. I also found the tranquility of the hinterland there, where I settled. I established my small vineyard to better understand winemaking. I quickly realized that wine is made in the vineyards, and working the land has become increasingly my passion. The annual cycle engages us in grape production, but the agronomic approach takes us much further, particularly through the practice of biodynamics. The pride of the estate: Domaine Réveille cultivates 8.6 hectares of vines in a garrigue landscape, in the terroirs of the Upper Agly Valley in Roussillon. The soils, primarily granite and gneiss, the heat, the scarcity of water, and the Tramontane wind—all these extreme factors result in low yields. Organic farming is the starting point for our viticulture. Other practices, such as biodynamics, allow us to adopt more targeted and sensitive approaches. Domaine Réveille offers southern wines made from grapes harvested at peak ripeness. A bespoke winemaking process unfolds gently and without additives. The wines are aged in concrete tanks for 9 to 18 months, depending on their development, the tenderness, and the vibrancy that emerges. Each year, the new vintages stand out for their freshness and Mediterranean character, both as single-varietal wines (IGP) and blends (AOP).
