Carbonifère 2022

Languedoc | Rouge | 2022

The careful winemaking process for this wine involves a long six-week maceration with gentle punching down to extract the full richness of the aromas. Eighteen months of aging in one- and two-year-old barrels imparts a harmonious structure and well-integrated tannins. The predominance of Syrah on a carboniferous terroir, combined with Grenache and Carignan, creates a balanced and elegant tasting experience.

Our Review of the Cuvée

On the nose, this wine reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruit, complemented by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, the texture is velvety, with a depth that unfolds slowly to reveal notes of plum, pepper, and forest floor. The tannins are present but perfectly integrated, providing a refined and lasting structure. This wine benefits from being decanted an hour before serving with dishes such as duck breast with wild berries or beef tenderloin with porcini mushrooms, enhancing every bite with its aromatic complexity.

Domaine Le Conte Des Floris

Languedoc | France

Daniel Le Conte des Floris cultivates Grenache, Carignan, and Terret on rare basalt soils in Languedoc. His wines possess a distinctive character: precise fruit, sustained tension, and delicate tannins. Aging in demi-muids refines the texture without weighing the wine down. His wines often come across as more elegant than those from the rest of Pézenas, with a finesse that is surprising for the region.
