Grown on the limestone soils of Urville, this 100% Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs stands out for its meticulous and environmentally friendly winemaking process. The first pressing, carried out at very low pressure, allows for the extraction of the grape variety’s full richness and minerality. Gravity-fed vinification and the estate’s organic yeasts help preserve the wine’s authenticity and purity, without filtration or fining. Thirty-six months of aging in the bottle imparts a refined aromatic complexity.

Our Review of the Cuvée

This Champagne from Michel Drappier boasts a brilliant golden-pink hue. The nose reveals captivating aromas of freshly pressed black grapes, intertwined with vibrant notes of red and white fruits, as well as a hint of citrus. On the palate, its richness is expressed through flavors of vine peach, enveloped by a subtle bouquet of aromatic herbs. The finish, where delicate spicy notes emerge, offers remarkable tension and purity. This wine is ideal for enhancing an aperitif or pairing with fine dishes such as sashimi or veal tartare.

Drappier House is located in Urville, in the Côte des Bar region, and has been owned by a Champagne family present in the area since 1808, making it one of the oldest houses still managed by the same lineage. The vineyard is situated on Kimmeridgian soils and is characterized by a high proportion of Pinot Noir, complemented by rare grape varieties such as Arbane and Petit Meslier.

Drappier employs meticulous viticulture, with most of its parcels managed under organic farming practices. Their approach is characterized by soil cultivation without herbicides, a strong focus on biodiversity, and winemaking that prioritizes the natural expression of the fruit. The cuvées are frequently crafted with minimal or no dosage, emphasizing purity and minerality.

The house is also committed to robust environmental initiatives, notably carbon-neutral certification, and its Champagnes are appreciated for their elegance, tension, and
