Our Review of the Cuvée

Let yourself be captivated by the subtle blend of aromas that evoke the landscapes of Corsica. The initial nose reveals intense notes of ripe red fruits, such as redcurrant and blackcurrant, accompanied by the sweetness of myrtle. On the palate, the wine expresses itself with fullness and a silky texture, introduced by a subtle hint of oak. A distinctive minerality throughout and elegant tannins lead to a refined and lingering finish. Designed to complement a shoulder of lamb stuffed with candied clementines, it is recommended to open this wine an hour in advance to allow its full aromatic profile to unfold.

Domaine Comte Abbatucci

Domaine Comte Abbatucci

Corsica | France

In Corsica, Domaine Comte Abbatucci is situated in the Taravo valley, where it preserves and enhances an ancient ampelographic heritage. The vineyard is managed biodynamically and predominantly planted with indigenous grape varieties, including Sciaccarellu, Vermentinu, Barbarossa, and Carcajolu, all well-suited to the hillsides and the Mediterranean climate tempered by maritime influence.

Vineyard management focuses on achieving balanced ripeness, thereby preserving the aromatic finesse and natural freshness of the grapes. Vinifications are conducted with precision, avoiding excessive extraction. The resulting wines exhibit supple textures and a measured amplitude, underpinned by delicate and expressive fruit.

The aging processes, often extended, are managed with restraint to impart complexity and polish without making the profiles heavy. This approach enables the cuvées to achieve a balance between the inherent generosity of the Mediterranean context and a distinct island freshness. The domain's overall work establishes a strong identity.
