Coteaux de l'Aubance | White | 2022

This exquisite wine is the result of meticulous winemaking, in which Chenin Blanc grapes are hand-selected from schist-covered hillsides to achieve unique purity and concentration. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels and stops naturally to preserve a balanced sweetness. After 18 months of barrel aging, this wine develops a complex and invigorating structure, bringing out elegant notes of spices and candied fruit.

Our take on this vintage

From the very first whiff, this wine exudes a captivating bouquet of ripe pineapple, fresh lemongrass, and delicate flowers such as linden and vine blossom. On the palate, the richness of candied grapes blends harmoniously with a refreshing liveliness. On the palate, spicy notes of nutmeg blend with the sweetness of toasted hazelnuts, creating a tasting experience where each flavor is distinct yet gracefully balanced. This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as foie gras on toast or a delicious fruit dessert.

In Anjou, Domaine de Bablut primarily cultivates Chenin and Cabernet Franc, the region’s signature grape varieties. The vineyard is largely situated on schist soils, which lend the wines a tension and vibrancy that are evident in both the whites and the reds.

The winemaking process is carried out with precision, focusing on moderate extraction to preserve the fruit’s clarity and the balance of the structure. The white wines exhibit lively, straightforward profiles, while the reds retain a clear framework and a measured structure. Aging is subtle, designed to complement the wine’s character without dictating its style.

All of the wines are characterized by a deliberate restraint and natural depth, offering a faithful and clear expression of the Angers terroirs, without any attempt to show off or create a spectacle.
