Gaioz Sopromadze

Imereti | Georgia

Gaioz Sopromadze Winery is a family-run winery located in the Imereti wine region in western Georgia, dedicated to producing natural wines with minimal intervention. The estate, built on traditions dating back to 1914, relies on traditional Georgian practices, notably using kvevris (large clay amphorae) for fermentation and limiting the use of chemical inputs in the vineyards and the winery.

Gaioz Sopromadze and his family produce a variety of wines from local grape varieties such as Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Krakhuna, and Chkhaveri, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation and a very natural approach to aging. The wines are characterized by their authenticity, their strong connection to the terroir, and their unique expression of Georgia’s ancient grape varieties.

This winery reflects Georgia’s long-standing winemaking heritage while embracing the contemporary trend toward natural wines, with a deliberately limited and artisanal production.
