La petite musette blanc 2024

Vin de France | Blanc | 2024

"Le Facteur" wine is crafted from a skillful blend of Chenin and Sémillon, grown on clay-limestone soils, which give them a lovely minerality. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, preserving the fruit’s full quality. Fermentation is carried out using native yeasts, enhancing the wine’s authenticity. Aging in stainless steel tanks preserves the wine’s freshness and fruity character, making it particularly pleasant and approachable.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The wine has a pale, brilliant gold color. The nose is delicate, with notes of quince, linden blossom, pear, and warm apple. On the palate, it is full-bodied, refined, fresh, and elegant, with a rather understated aroma profile at this stage (citrus, mineral). The finish is more expressive, with lovely bitter notes of quince and warm apple.

At Frantz Saumon, Chenin takes multiple forms: sparkling, dry and crisp, or more opulent cuvées depending on the vintage. The work in Montlouis and Vouvray is based on respectful viticulture and delicate pressings that yield bright, luminous juices. The estate focuses on clear, unburdened aromatics, combined with a supple texture. The wines often gain verticality with a few months of aging, while maintaining precise fruit expression. The overall impression is one of rigorous simplicity, characteristic of great artisanal Chenins.
