The Little Red Bag 2023

French wine | Red | 2023

Le Facteur is a wine conceived as a true creative exploration by Fabien Brutout and Mathieu Cosme at the Beaumont estate. Made from Cabernet Franc grapes, this wine is the result of fermentation in concrete tanks using native yeasts, which preserve its natural character. It stands out for its simplicity and approachability, embodying the concept of a "wine for friends." Hand-harvested, it offers a straightforward and unpretentious tasting experience, focused on immediate enjoyment.

Our take on this vintage

The nose is expressive, with notes of blackcurrant candy (which starts with a K) and subtle hints of milk and yeast. The palate is round, full-bodied, and enveloping, revealing a texture of beautiful, velvety smoothness in a luscious, juicy style that is quite irresistible, especially as the fruit fully unfolds. The finish deliciously lingers on the palate with fresh fruit.

At Frantz Saumon, Chenin takes many forms: sparkling, crisp and dry, or more rounded cuvées, depending on the vintage. The winemaking in Montlouis and Vouvray is based on sustainable viticulture and gentle pressing, yielding bright, vibrant juices. The estate focuses on clean, uncluttered aromas combined with a supple texture. The wines often gain depth with a few months of aging, while retaining precise fruit. The overall style exudes the rigorous simplicity that defines great artisanal Chenins.
