Our Review of the Cuvée

When you take a whiff of this Faugères, a symphony of candied raspberry and plum, enhanced by violet and a hint of balsamic notes, immediately captivates you. On the palate, it is strikingly round and full-bodied, unfolding with velvety smoothness and increasing density. The finish, both firm and invigorating, is marked by a chalky sensation that blends harmoniously with the candied fruit and the subtle spicy notes of licorice and pepper. It is a refined and memorable sensory experience.

Mas d'Alezon

Languedoc | France

Mas d'Alezon is a wine estate located in the Faugères appellation, Languedoc, managed by Catherine Roque since the late 1990s. Originally an architect, she transitioned to winemaking and took over this vineyard, cultivated biodynamically on schist soils, and planted with Mediterranean grape varieties such as Mourvèdre, Grenache, Syrah, and Lledoner pelut (Garnacha peluda), contributing to the production of elegant, refined, and distinctive red wines.

The estate's practices emphasize respect for the natural balance of the soil and plants, with minimal intervention, manual harvesting, and meticulous vinification to allow the typicity of the Faugères terroir and the minerality of the schist soils to express themselves. The wines are renowned for their finesse, often characterized by freshness and complex notes of dark fruits, spices, and garrigue herbs.
