Our Review of the Cuvée

The golden color, with luminous highlights, hints at a wine of character and depth. The nose unfolds subtly, blending notes of white fruit, delicate flowers, and subtle buttery and toasty hints—the hallmarks of a great Chardonnay. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and precise, driven by a lovely mineral tension that balances the richness of the wine. The texture is silky, and the wine lingers elegantly, leaving a persistent sensation of freshness and purity on the finish. A distinguished and harmonious Premier Cru, a faithful reflection of its vineyard and its monopole, combining finesse, depth, and serenity.

Les Héritiers Saint-Genys embodies the unique journey of Patrice du Jeu, a former restaurateur who became a winemaker out of passion and conviction. In 2010, he took over a 12-hectare estate, abandoned between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, which he entirely restructured with rigor and humility. The estate cultivates highly diverse plots, from Chassagne-Montrachet to Santenay, extending to the Côte Chalonnaise, with a notable exception: the Mercurey Premier Cru Clos Marcilly, a monopole. Each wine expresses its specific terroir (climat), from the convivial Bourgogne Aligoté to the more distinct Premier Crus. The cuvées, acclaimed by several guides, reflect identical rigor for each appellation. Being a winemaker in Chassagne-Montrachet remains an honor for Patrice, one he strives to earn every day.
