Discovering the AOC Fleurie

Laetitia Allemand takes us on a trip to Fleurie to discover one of the 10 Beaujolais crus. Are you looking for a good address for a tasting of the AOC Fleurie? With which dish can this Beaujolais cru be served? Laetitia answers your questions.

What a beautiful panorama we have from here, don't you think? I am at the foot of the Chapel of the Madonna, in the middle of the commune of Fleurie. As often in the area, this chapel would have been built to attract the protection of the Virgin against the disease of the vine. It seems to work!

I meet you today for a Beaujolais moment in the magnificent hillsides of Fleurie, one of the 10 Beaujolais Crus. Here, we are at an altitude of more than 400 metres. In other words, the vines and winegrowers of Fleurie are not afraid of heights! For example, on the south side of the hill where I am, we work on slopes at 50%! The wine of Fleurie is exclusively red, like all the Beaujolais crus by the way. It is fine and elegant, like its hillsides. Ideal with the leg of Easter lamb. It is my favourite wine for my aperitifs with friends. Would you like to taste it? Then pay a little visit to the Cave de Fleurie. It is the first cooperative cellar in the Beaujolais region, created in 1927 on the initiative of the women of the village. So we're right to say that the Fleurie is the most feminine of the Beaujolais wines!

Here, we're more than 400 meters above sea level. As much to say that the vines and the wine growers of Fleurie do not have the vertigo since the vineyard stretches on a series of nipples leaning against a chain of crests with sometimes vertiginous escarpments. For example, on the south side of the hill where I am, we work on slopes at 50%!
