In the film Saint-Amour, starring Gérard Depardieu and Benoît Poelvoorde, the AOC Saint-Amour makes its cinema. But do you really know this appellation? Let's go to the village of Saint-Amour with the winegrower and journalist Laëtitia Allemand, to discover this famous AOC of the Beaujolais. On the program: a beaujolais moment full of feelings!
Here, everything breathes romance. Starting with the name of the village, Saint-Amour - which owes its name to a certain Amor. A Roman legionary whose statue is enthroned next to the church. Nearby, the town hall celebrates numerous wedding confirmations throughout the year. Here, the restaurants are called "Au 14 février", "Auberge du Paradis"... That's how much we know how to welcome lovers!
The full name of the village is Saint-Amour-Bellevue, and indeed the view is superb. We are 20 km south of Mâconat the northern entrance of the Wine Route of Beaujolais.
Here, we produce red wineswith 2 different typicities. Depending on whether the maceration is short or long, we obtain light and aromatic wines that can be consumed soon after the harvest, or more robust and tannic wines that can be kept for 4 to 5 years.
The Saint-Amour is obviously the wine of Valentine's Day par excellence. The proof: almost a quarter of the production is tastedFebruary 14th. But think outside the box and consider it too, with autumn dishes, such as risotto or pumpkin purée. You will appreciate its tender and harmonious side.
