Ampelidæ (from the Greek Ampelos, the vine) was founded in 1995 by Frédéric Brochet in the village of Marigny-Brizay in the Vienne, and is now owned by Benjamin and Kate Meuli.
Divided into three large islands around the village (Marigny, Vouzailles and Lencloitre), the vineyard is spread over some thirty kilometers, on the last southern foothills of the Loire Valley. The geological structure of the vineyard justifies the cultivation of different varieties, dominated by Sauvignon Blanc and Gris, as well as Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. Ampelidæ is committed to producing wines that are respectful of their terroir (certified organic), of their time (low use of sulfites, defense of the social and economic environment...), and of people (from our suppliers to consumers): contemporary wines in short.
Located in a region better known for its cheeses (Chabi) or its amusement parks (Futuroscope), Ampelidæ proves that the Vienne region has a great terroir capable of competing with the best French AOCs.
