“One Must Invest in the 2015 Vintage”
Diary #3: The highlight of the past few months at Château Lamothe de Haux has, of course, been the harvest for our white wines: a mechanical harvest, except for our “Cuvée Valentine,” which is, in a way, our signature wine!
Hand-harvested grapes for our signature wine
Once again this year—and perhaps even more so than in 2014—the clay soils have yielded grapes of exceptional quality. The only downside is that the harvest was somewhat less abundant than the previous vintage… Harvesting continued with our red wines, which should also produce some truly outstanding reds—rich, full-bodied, and well-structured. Without wanting to fall into the mystical belief that “all years divisible by 5 produce great wines”—a notion quite firmly established in Bordeaux— the 2015 vintage seems truly promising, oscillating between the potential of 2010 and the warm, charming character of 2009… We’re in for a treat!
