Diary entry #2 of Anne Gremillet from the Gremillet Champagne house: We are a family-owned estate and a young Champagne house, with only 35 years of history. This is very little compared to the major Champagne houses, some of which have two or three hundred years of history. We have made this characteristic our motto. In the Gremillet family, we don't claim a long history, but we create it day after day!

The 2015 harvest at the Gremillet Champagne house

Before I tell you the story of our House to begin this personal journal, let me say a few words about our 2015 harvest. It was very healthy; there was hardly any need for sorting. But we're still only at the winemaking stage—and in this area, my brother Jean-Christophe is the mastermind! So it's still too early to comment on the final quality. But we're confident. Here in Champagne , we like to say that years ending in 5 produce beautiful vintages, and it seems that this is proving true once again.

From a 30-are plot to a 40-hectare estate in Champagne

In the mid-1970s, my grandmother Lulu invested her savings in 30 ares of vines, which she bequeathed to my father, Jean-Michel, a former EDF (French electricity company) employee, in 1978. It was then that my father set about developing the vineyard, pragmatically and always with the intention of passing it on. The family estate has grown rapidly, now encompassing 40 hectares under cultivation and producing 500,000 bottles annually.

The Gremillet Champagne winemaking family is growing

2003 saw the arrival of my brother Jean-Christophe at the estate, who took charge of the winemaking stages we hadn't yet mastered. This resulted in significant investments in our production facilities. Now equipped with excellent winemaking equipment, our priority is developing the brand so that it gains recognition. And that's how I joined this wonderful family adventure, taking charge of marketing and communications. Jean-Christophe and I have been joined by our respective spouses, and together with our parents, we form the core of Champagne Gremillet. We are united and driven by genuine sincerity and authenticity, which our friends, customers, and partners feel.
